What it ends up being is a costume drama: too many costumes, too much revved-up, empty drama, and too little plot.
Despite being backed by three solid performances and some bravado cinematography, Bajirao Mastani is over-indulgent and too much in love with itself which leads this magnificent animal to its slaughter.
